ART PRACTICE:
Nameer Davis is a painter and sculptor currently working on calligraphic paintings of crowds. A characteristic of these paintings is the human individual as a textual and pictorial figure within a screenplay. This body of work was begun in 2003 in Taipei as a kind of pulse reading of urban demographics. Its current form reflects an experience of the world in which the one, blending with the many is a place of vital creative encounter. Intensively worked surfaces present painting as a screen, which responds to the marks inscribed upon it.

PHILOSOPHY/ THOUGHTS ON TEACHING:

The history and practice of Art are related to each other as an institution is to an individual. For both to thrive, a dialogue needs to be maintained between Art as a storehouse of knowledge and the individual artist/ learner whose unique background and experience provide Art with renewed presence and expression.
